The Biden administration does not impose COVID-19 vaccines on White House staff, press secretary Jen Psaki said on Friday.

At the White House press conference on Thursday, Psaki suggested that every White House official had been offered a vaccine against COVID-19, but clarified on Friday that the White House was not requiring that officials are vaccinated.

“No, we didn’t mandate him,” Psaki replied, after being asked if the administration was forcing White House staff to receive a coronavirus vaccine.

Psaki did not provide a specific number on how many White House officials have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, but said they are able to track the number of people on the president’s staff because ” they are vaccinated here in the White House medical unit. ”

WHITE HOUSE SAYS ‘UNVACCINATED PEOPLE SHOULD FEAR MORE’ THAN VACCINATED WITH THE COVID DELTA VARIANT

As for those who have not been vaccinated, Psaki maintained that public health guidelines remain the same for White House officials as they are for other Americans.

“Anyone who has chosen not to be vaccinated, as in the press, the public health advice is to wear a mask,” Psaki said. “These are also the public health guidelines for employees. ”

Psaki’s comments come after the news that a vaccinated White House official, as well as a vaccinated assistant to House Speaker Pelosi, tested positive for COVID-19 after attending the same event.

“Under an agreement we made during the transition, we pledged to proactively release information,” Psaki said, adding that they “continued to deliver on that pledge.”
