It took only five years for ECOVACS to become a market leader in Australia, and the latest X1 OMNI robot vacuum and mop proves why that is.
ECOVACS provided us with a device for testing purposes, but this did not affect our opinion of the product.
Our reviews always remain independent of the manufacturer, and the first time they see the review is when you read it. Keep reading to find out what we think.

How can I get it and how much will it cost?
ECOVACS’ new flagship, the Deebot X1 OMNI, is now available in black and white.
The DEEBOT X1 OMNI (Black) is available on the official website of Bing Lee, Godfreys, JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys and ECOVACS for $2,499.
The DEEBOT X1 OMNI (White) is available on the ECOVACS online store.
The DEEBOT X1 TURBO, which shares many of the same features as the OMNI, is also available on Amazon and eBay for $2,099.
Who is it good for?
ECOVACS continues its innovation in the robotic cleaning space with the Deebot X1 OMNI. Featuring a vacuum and mop, the OMNI station collects dust, cleans dirty water and dries its mop pads.
The Deebot range has always offered a sleek look and feel, however, the latest model takes things up a notch. With a (large) well-designed station for the robot vacuum and the addition of a suitable cleaning solution – the X1 really is the all-in-one cleaning solution.
If you’re interested, you’ll need somewhere to put the station – something I personally struggled with during my time with the X1. I ended up mounting the station against the wall in the middle of the living room, as that was the only place it could fit. But even then it didn’t look out of place due to its fantastic design.
And while the Deebot X1 OMNI will keep your home clean, it can also keep an eye on things with a built-in security camera on the front – just like with previous models.
Although the price is quite steep, the features the X1 brings home may be worth it for those who lack the time to manage a busy household – not to mention the quality of the whole package.
How it works?
As mentioned earlier, the X1 dock is large. This means that you will need to find space in your home for him to live comfortably. The good thing is that it is not obnoxious in terms of design and tends to work with modern decor in the house.
Inside the dock are two water jugs – one for clean water and the other for used and dirty water when using the cleaning function. There’s also room for spare pads and the brush – and in the front is the vacuum cleaner’s filter bag (for all the dirt and dust).
The X1 OMNI features 5,000pa of suction, object avoidance technology, and improved mapping of rooms in your home. As far as suction goes, the X1 does a great job and picks up a surprising amount of dirt.
Then there’s the mop, with two rotating pads that can be attached to the bottom of the X1 to clean floors. This is one of the best implementations I’ve come across, with the best results. When attaching the mop pads, the robot vacuum automatically switches to the correct mode. You will only have to remove them when you want to vacuum carpets or rugs.
Automatic detection of a dirty mop pad is also built in, with the X1 returning to the dock to clean the pads before returning to complete the rest of the job. It’s very smart. While it’s not a replacement for something like a steam mop for floors that need extra love and attention, it will make your floors look much better than they did before the X1 launched.
There’s also something new in the personal voice assistant, which can control your home cleaning with voice commands. If you’re more willing to connect it through your existing smart home, you can also do that with integration with Amazon’s Alexa.
And as with previous Deebot models, there’s the ECOVACS app for Android and iOS which gives you full control over cleaning modes, schedules, restricted areas and areas to be cleaned. The mapping is excellent and even allows for a 3D version of your house – which is very cool.
Obstacle avoidance is also improved, which is why there is a large camera on the front of the X1 OMNI. It also enables home patrol to check areas of your home when you are not there. It’s worth noting that there’s no camera cover for this model, which may be a turn-off for privacy-minded people. However, the camera is password protected and issues an alert whenever it is triggered.
Obstacle avoidance isn’t perfect though. Smaller items like LEGO pieces and random bits of junk and string the kids have left around the house can be tricky for the X1. I ended up with a LEGO person’s head in the filter at one point.
what we think
ECOVACS Deebot X1 OMNI is an exceptional device… if you have the money to invest. It’s the simple solution for this robot vacuum mop.
In terms of automating the cleaning process, the X1 OMNI does a fantastic job with minimal effort on your part. When it comes to design, ECOVACS has achieved a sleek and sophisticated look that doesn’t look out of place in the home. Yes, it’s bulky, but if you have space, it’s not so noticeable after a while.
I also really like the ECOVACS app which offers everything you need right from your phone and can control every aspect from anywhere, even remotely.
It comes down to price, but the investment might be worth it so you can recoup some time for yourself. The X1 OMNI really is the one-stop cleaning solution, and it does it so well.
