NEW DELHI: Police arrested two men last week who allegedly sedated an elderly couple at their home in the Punjabi Bagh of west Delhi and fled with jewelry, money and belongings. value worth Rs 3 crore. When the incident apparently happened last Saturday, the couple, who ran a travel agency in Moti Bagh, were home alone. Police said when the children returned home they found the parents unconscious in their bedroom and the two housekeepers also unconscious in the kitchen. The house had been ransacked.
The children informed the cops and criminal and forensic teams were called to the scene. The family claimed that four of the household helpers, including two women, escaped with diamond and gold jewelry, watches and Rs 80 lakh in cash, all totaling around Rs 3 crore. Prashant Gautam, Additional DCP (West), revealed that during the investigation, the police team gathered information from the couple and their family members about the four domestic workers. “After their identification, the police launched technical surveillance which helped us focus on two of them. Their location has been determined to be in Uttarakhand, ”the officer said. “We had information that they were planning to flee to Nepal. Our teams then informed the local police and the cops at the border. We then searched the identified location and arrested the two men before they could escape. ”
Gautam revealed that some of the stolen goods were also recovered. However, the two suspicious women have still not been found. “We have possible leads on the location of the two suspicious women. They will soon be arrested. Our investigators are on their trail, ”Gautam said.
