GRAPHIC CONTENT: Stranger Things star Dacre Montgomery reveals he filmed his gruesome season four cameo remotely from Australia

Dacre Montgomery has revealed that he filmed his cameo for Netflix’s Stranger Things season four remotely from his hometown of Perth, Australia.

The 27-year-old actor shared a series of gruesome behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram of his brief and gory dream sequence.

He explained that his scene as the villainous Billy Hargrove was filmed by a local crew in Perth with director Shawn Levy overseeing the shoot via Zoom.

“I feel extremely lucky to have been able to shoot these scenes during the pandemic in my home town of Perth,” he wrote.

Dacre said it was a blessing to work with the Perth crew, which he described as “incredible”.

Scenes Dacre filmed for season four involved his character Billy, who died last season, returning to haunt his step-sister Max, played by Sadie Sink.

Photos taken behind the scenes showed Dacre in a bloody singlet with a hole in his chest.

He also posted a video of a particularly gruesome makeup session, showing his scooped and burned torso.

Dacre laughed at the injuries saying, “It’s not a tumor!” in the voice of Arnold Schwarzenegger from the 1990 film Kindergarten Cop.

Friends and colleagues sent messages of support, saying they missed having Dacre on the season four set.

“We miss you on the show,” a friend commented.

‘You did amazing. Proud of you,” added another.

US-based director Shawn worked with Dacre remotely to shoot the scenes.

Dacre said the producers allowed him to interpret the character in his own way.

While his character was killed off in season three, the actor received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Drama Series last year.

Dacre also starred in the 2020 film The Broken Hearts Gallery, alongside Geraldine Viswanathan and Suki Waterhouse.
